I recently travelled and spent some time with a friend, three days after getting there we wanted to do laundry and I grabbed the towel.

Friend: That towel is for guests and it was totally clean before I handed it to you, I usually soak it with hot water before washing after any guest leaves.
Me: I'm washing it because I have used it on my body and I believe it's dirty like other clothes.
Friend: A towel is dirty in three days?
Is it not just to dry the body?
Bro drop it (jokingly), but if you insist, well...
I grabbed his towel as well after he said this, and he was like : 'This is better, the last I washed it was about 2 weeks and if not for you, I would not think of washing it today, it will wait till probably the next time I will be washing.'
I have the habit of washing my towel whenever I do my laundry, I can't picture how often but I know it's a bit often and generally at least once a week.
What do you think?
How often do you wash your towel?
And how often should a bath towel be washed?

Rayma

Towel should be washed frequently because it absorbs dirts from the body. The mistake most people make is believing the body is totally clean after taking a bath and drying with towel shouldn't make the towel any dirty.
It's not like that, when we wipe the body after bathing, we wipe some dead skin cells together with the water. Also, towel will be wet for a longer period after use, and that could cause it to attract microbes.

Washing towel everday isn't a bad habit if you have the opportunity.
I personally have three, and I wash each after every 4 uses i.e Morning and night, equating to two days.
If I do not bathe twice a day, I may not bother to wash them until each completes the four uses cycle.
I may not have time to wash immediately, I commonly stop using and add them to my laundry to wash mostly during the weekend.

Why did you travel without taking your own towel with you?
What if the towel your friend gave to you already has microorganisms that could harm you?
Guys aren't like girls anyway.
According to the cleaning institute, bath towel should be washed after three uses (max).

This isn't bad, but always allow the towel to dry before you can attempt to drop it inside a laundry basket or before mixing with other dirty clothes, it's better if it could be left alone hanging till you have time to wash it so it could get dried, to prevent germs.

@Urguy, you did well, I'm honestly planning to have one for each day, this way, no need to repeat a towel. We aren't just drying water off our body after bathing, we dry skin cells too, so towel also needs frequent wash as our clothes.
For now, I wash it once a week.

I'm like your friend, I usually don't remember to wash my towel except my babe comes around and remind me. Never knew it's something to be taken seriously. Wow!

Most guys thing, it's not easy to carry load (lol).

Well, I do not use a towel since I knew how important it is to take its hygiene seriously.
I use a clothing material that looks and feels like a towel instead, because it's easier to wash, and I have two of those. So I change it every 2 to 3 days, sometimes I wash immediately after the 2 or 3 days and sometimes I wash them during general laundry, the material don't take much time to dry, be it after washing or wiping.
I have a towel but I only take it with me when I'm traveling or spending the night elsewhere, in my house, I use those clothing materials because they dry easily, this means the material will not accumulate germs.

I do something like this but not exactly. I cut my whole towel into smaller pieces like those hand towels used in the kitchen.
I have 4, that means I made four wipers from one towel😂
And I use one per bath, making it very easy to wash each used one before another bath as I wash my pant.

This sounds cool, I think I'll do the same, my towel is pretty big.

Yes, it's easier that way, I don't bother wrapping myself around in a towel since it's just from my bathroom to my room. I have an aunt that cut hers into smaller pieces just a bit bigger than the size of a face towel.

You know what she does?
She uses each as sponge, squeezes with hand after bathing and proceed to wipe with it, then dry. This way, she washes her towel as she takes her bath and she never uses a towel twice. I guess it's part of the reasons her skin glows, not certain though.
I can't use that method because of the idea of wiping with a wet towel anyways but it works for her.

Lol. I couldn't go with much things, I only took 4 light shirts and 2 trousers, reason I had to do laundry frequently while with him.
Thanks all the same, I'll be more careful next time.

You skipped one of the questions Ticam, how often do you wash your towel?

Once a week, on one of my off days🤣, trying to be better, but I think I will go with Kemkem or Amaria method now. If I look around and get good clothing materials that could dry faster like @Kemkem said, I think I would prefer that.

Hamani

Credit to ladies, you people don't joke with your hygiene. I really do not pay attention to how often I should wash my towel, I only wash it whenever I feel like because I believe it's just to dab and can't be always dirty.
I'll start paying attention and washing it frequently henceforth.

I disagree, washing the towel everday can make the material easily worn out, once a week or once in two weeks is ok if you bathe once daily, and if you bathe twice daily once after 3 uses should be fine, allowing it dry well after every use is also important.

Whether it worns out or not, just as we change our toothbrush, it is recommended by health experts to always change our towel after using it for few years, except you have more than one like some people say here, you still need to change it but might not be frequently.
You shouldn't be really bothered about the worn out.
