Quote from: Mafy on Oct 24, 2024, 01:40 AMNo, it's not the duty of a wife to cook.
Anyone in the family can cook, and if there's no one to cook, it's not a crime to buy food.
I guess, my wife and I would often buy food when I get married, because I don't like cooking and I really don't like seeing people cooking, cooking is draining.
I can only understand if you're doing it for money.
I wonder how much you'll end up spending on food orders when you have children.
You need to get someone to do it for you guys, that's the best way to go.

Most men that wants to have a cook in a wife find it difficult to boil water themselves, yet they want a maid as a wife.
A guy was telling me some years ago that his main reason for getting married was to start eating good food.

OMG! Why not get a maid instead?

His marriage didn't last 2 years, I didn't know what caused issue but the red flag in him was obvious.

Nope, cooking is a life skill, in some first world countries except you are very rich, you can't just be buying food at your will, you need to be able to sort yourself at least once/twice a day even though the other meal would be bought, because if you go with the idea of buying food every time, you would be left with nothing at the end due to high cost and standard of living.

A wife isn't a cook and that's the fact.

Quote from: Vamvick on Oct 24, 2024, 01:45 AMI see no reason why the wife shouldn't cook if she stays at home. If she works however, she may only cook when she has the energy.
Even if she stays at home, it shouldn't be a duty for her. She's probably taking care of entire home and the children which is already draining.

Quote from: Lovemarina on Oct 24, 2024, 01:43 AMYou can get a chef who will be doing bulk cooking possibly once or twice a week instead of buying at all times.
This sounds great

If you're starving, don't enter the kitchen. If you like stay there and keep asking questions.

Try and marry someone like me, you'll remain there starving my dear🤪

In my house, we don't even rotate. The idea is that, anyone who's hungry gets up, go straight into the kitchen and cook for all, if it's time for a main meal.

If it's making something to snack on, you ask others if they're interested and you make the snack for everyone interested.
That's how we were trained and this include mum and dad as well. Dad does more of the snack thing anyway, but he cooks too not just as often as every other person.

Knowing how to cook has saved me a great deal in life.

There's nothing in cooking, I cook most of the time while my wife does other things. In fact, I prefer to cook than do other chores like sweeping, mopping, making bed and so on.
I cook more and everyone who has ever visited knows including my mum, some men wouldn't like their mum to know they cook for their wives. My mum knows and wasn't surprised when she visited and realized I cook more because I have always liked to cook even back at home with her, so it wasn't any big deal.

I cook, we eat and my wife cleans up, I help with the clean up too but not always, our first child can now do some little cleaning making it easier.
There's nothing in cooking as for me, and no, it's not a wife's duty.

🤣🤣🤣🤣
He may not be, he could be a helping person too who just think the sister in-law should understand he's with his friends for that day and should be able to handle the cooking alone.
I guess he just wanted Bryan to stay and gist with them a little longer.
Anybody can act like that.

They are grown-ups not children. Do you think a daughter or sister in-law can mandate cooking or helping out in the kitchen for a grown-up?
I doubt it.

He could just like cooking and wouldn't want to miss out or just being humane and wouldn't want the sister in-law to go through the stress of cooking alone.
No sister in-law would mandate that for an adult.

Quote from: Rayma on Oct 24, 2024, 01:00 AMIf there's anything I would ensure my son or male children learn very well, it's cooking and how to properly take care of the kitchen, you guys don't know to what extent that habit could make or break a marriage.
Most mothers aren't trying at all in that aspect with male children. My husband hardly helps out in the kitchen and it's annoying, I will work and get back home only to be left with kitchen chores all by myself. The only thing that keeps my smile with him till today in that regard is that, he doesn't have a problem buying food for the whole family if I complain I'm tired, he may not cook but he would order or go out and get what everyone would eat for us.
Cooking isn't a wife's duty please, maybe if I'm a stay at home wife, I could say otherwise, but for a working wife, it's not.
Don't mind men, I'm sure if we ask "should financial responsibility of a home solely be handled by the husband?", all the men would boldly say no. I wonder why cooking should be a wife's responsibility alone.

I already wrote part of it up there... Oversee the work of the house staff, plus look after and train the kids as a mother, take care of the husband by ensuring his needs are met on time, look good always for the husband, this could include subjecting herself to tasking activities like some demanding exercises, when they have guests, she takes care of the guests as well, e.t.c
It's never ending
