Quote from: Shereefah on Feb 05, 2024, 11:51 AMI don't think it's about frugality. It's just appalling how marriages break these days and I think that's the point Op is trying to make.

I support Op, something like civil wedding first then elaborate several years anniversary. That's an accomplishment.
This is a good suggestion.

It's a good idea, but culture, tradition and religion wouldn't make it work, perhaps we need to transform most culture, tradition and religion before it work, which I doubt humans will agree to.

I believe it's more about people getting to know eachother well before marriage and using one's common sense because most of these people see the red flags but they just want to marry. With or without the party, marriage that would crash would crash.

My point is, don't deceive yourself. Broken relationship no matter how many times is better than a broken marriage. Don't marry for wrong reasons.

As the topic implies, I think wedding is overrated with the way marriages crash these days. Is it not better then to celebrate wedding anniversary instead of organising big event wedding?

Like throwing a big party when couple successfully spend 10- 20 - 30 years together, we can even start with 5 years.

What do you people think 🤔?
