We need to wake up from all these unnecessary way of thinking. Not just 2024 sweaty, it's almost 2025 and some people still act and think like we are in 1802. What a pity.
How would he feel, if he ask her during the job interview what her expectation is and she ignores the question?
We need to be acting like decent humans, it's 2024.

- Oct 09, 2024, 12:00 PMOnly cheaters and cunning organisations would post a job without salary, only them also compare your former salary to your expectation.
Pay what is reasonable or what you can afford and openly let applicants know. Period!
She'll get a better offer soon, tell her she doesn't need to stress over this one.

What's the big deal? Your friend needs to forget about that shitty job.
I hope she's not blaming you.

- Oct 09, 2024, 11:55 AMIt is very unprofessional to post a job without a salary, except you know that what you would offer is far above the general market value, maybe 3 or 4 times better.
You guys did nothing wrong.

- Oct 09, 2024, 11:41 AMShe shouldn't have applied for a job without a stated salary, it's demeaning once you pass a certain career stage, especially the junior or early career stage.

- Oct 09, 2024, 11:39 AMYour friend can still attend or join the interview if she wants, I assume it's virtual.
But if it's me, I wouldn't, because it's not worth it.

They just tell them to find people, interview them, get the preferred salary range among other things and feed them back, I mean the top management.

I only agree with you in the manner that the recruiter should have at least replied even if the management insist on not disclosing it, he or she could have said something like, it's not been finalized at this stage.

- Oct 09, 2024, 11:21 AMIf you're not stating clearly what the salary is, no matter how desperate I am to get a job, I won't bother to apply. Nothing wrong at all.

- Oct 09, 2024, 11:17 AMYou both did nothing wrong, you invest a lot of effort to make an interview work, the preparation, the anxiety and the stress that could come with it, including the transportation cost if it's not virtual.
She did nothing wrong and she has to continue that way till she gets a reasonable job, I wonder why salary wouldn't be stated in a job post to begin with, so you could waste people's time and energy?🤷

- Oct 09, 2024, 11:09 AMHi Dbedans, I told you guys about a friend that's seeking for a job the last time I posted a topic. Now, she got an interview invite few days ago, the job was listed without stating the actual salary. In order for her not to waste her energy, I told her to send a mail and ask politely.
Till today, no reply and today is the interview date.
Did we both do anything wrong?
