Why do recruiters post a job over and over again?
I was interviewed for a job few months ago, after the first and second interview, I got an invite for the third one. However, the interviewer didn't show up, strange, but it's one of those things.

To my surprise, this same job was posted few weeks after the called off interview invite.

It didn't end there.

I have seen this same job post 4 times or more after that time.

Why do some employers do that?

Some people are naturally indecisive, which could be a problem they have to deal with in all aspects for the rest of their lives.

The decision maker for the final interview who I guess you were supposed to meet the third time could be that kind of indecisive person. Be grateful you dodged a bullet, because I'm sure he would be a really problematic person to work with for the whole staff if that's the case.

They could need more people, it could be a position that require 3, 4, 5 or more people, but looking at it from the angle that they cancelled a third interview with you could just mean there's more to it.

Were you informed about the cancellation of the interview prior to the period of cancellation?

Did they ever get back to reschedule?

They're just unserious people. Who cancels a third interview after wasting someone's time on first and second interviews.

I pity those that will apply again.

Yes, I was told I should have met the CEO and it was supposed to be the final interview.

For this job role, a company especially a not very large company at the international level could not have needed more than two people at most.

I wasn't informed, that's really the strange part, anything planned could be cancelled but at least show some courtesy by informing the concerned people prior.

They didn't get back, I was the one who sent a mail after expecting them to join the virtual interview and it was so late before the mail was even replied telling me who I was supposed to meet was busy with another thing.

For example, some job applicants go ahead and follow these companies on social media, they could also patronize them or tell another person about the company.
That's why they post jobs sometimes, especially when they know the platform they're using doesn't charge them to post, so it's not gonna cost them.
You don't need to stress yourself over it.

They're using the free plan on the two platforms I use to see the job post, on these platforms it's obvious to know what company uses the free or the paid plan.

They're shitty people and the fact they didn't inform you before cancelling the interview further shows how shitty they are. They deserve no reasonable person to work with.

They have possibly not ran out of their ad fee yet, and for not showing up at the scheduled time for your interview;  perhaps they've met with and have taken another person instead.
They should have informed you about the call off before the interview time though.
Some recruiters or employers just think they are god when they're nothing. SMH

It's probably a toxic organisation where nobody wants to stay. They might have employed after that time you were scheduled for an interview but the people can't just stay.
Wasting someone's time and effort for the first and second interview and then cancelling the third without notice shows how toxic they are.

For those saying it's a paid ad, you should note that no serious organisation does that. They wouldn't start interviewing candidates if the advert has not been taken down, and if they do, immediately they fill the position, they tell the platform to take the advert down even if their money still remains because they know the implication to job seekers and it wouldn't give them a positive image too.

So in this case Op, that's a very worthless organisation with poor and ineffective leaders and workers.

Another thing is, their HR people could just be playing around and not in need of any employee since you said it's a free post plan.

This one is better, at least they show their stupidity on time, there's one useless real estate company called Paidmonthly in Lagos that invited me and others for physical interview and job trial on two different occasions, some of us had to travel from one city to another where this company is because comfortable accommodation was stated.
After we have been promised the job, they never get back to anyone of us and don't ask me how I know because we all exchanged contacts, so it's well known none of us was later called.
I have seen their job ad on different platforms as well after that time.

For this useless Paidmonthly company, what I noticed was that they only needed model-like ladies once in a while to go out there and represent them on some occasions and nothing more, immediately they finish using them for one or few days, they discard them, so they call it 'job trial.'

Most times when you see a company posting a particular job often, avoid the company, it's just a useless company.

Perhaps they are yet to get someone they think is fit enough to do the job.

Because some of those companies want to pay shitty money as salary and they're also demanding those with higher qualifications.
I went for an interview not quite long, everything went well, and I was expecting a call or an offer letter.
Instead, what I saw was this same job reposted! Surprising! But this time the salary was included in the job post, far below my stated expectation and I know no one would have the qualifications they requested for the job and told them their expectation is that little coin they posted the second time.

Before anyone says that could be what they're capable of paying, remember this isn't a start up, it's far from a start up company.

Be wary of any company that frequently repeat job posts, they are often very shitty places.
